The Conflict with the Israeli Zionist regime and its international network is an ongoing struggle that has produced numerous wars in recent history, both direct and through proxies.

The conflict was instigated by Israeli aggression and occupation ever since the British government had facilitated the establishment of the Zionist state in Palestine.

Notwithstanding, Syria has confirmed its willingness to make peace based on the implementation of international law and UN resolutions regarding the Golan and other occupied territories.

The eastern shoreline of Lake Tabariya was the sticking point of the Syrian-Israeli peace negotiations that started with the Madrid Peace Conference in 1991. After initially committing to a complete withdrawal from the occupied Golan in return for peace with Syria, Israel later refused to give up land on the eastern shoreline of Lake Tabariya which constitute the borders of the Golan.
