This Islamic school was named after Al-Sumeisati Abi Al-Qasem, one of Damascus’s notable leaders in the second half of the 11th century during the Fatimid rule.The school was built on the spot where the house of the Umayyad Caliph Omar Bin Abdul Aziz used to be.It was later renovated in the first half of the 14th century during the Mamluk Period.
